How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

F#%$@&*!^ing F%$#@k

The Fishermen at Lake Arthur, Glacier Ridge 50K.
On Sunday, after wimping out of the race on Saturday (only 3 finishers at Seaton Trail 50 Miler!), I crashed in the ravine and cracked my back again. I stepped on one of the log ramps and fell backwards, and landed hard on my back again. Right on a corner. Not good. Worse than the last time. I had to crawl over to a tree to pull myself up. It felt sore yesterday but got more intense today and started spasming. I'm to get X-Rays tomorrow to see if any ribs are broken. Got me some Oxycodone, which is nice. My head feels all fuzzy. I am going to use a beer chaser.
This is going to be interesting at work.
I am in the attendance management program at work already. This is a program that keeps track of sick time. It uses # of days off, as well as detecting patterning(like someone who takes the same day off every year, or the last Wednesday, Saturday shift of the year every year. I missed last the fri-sun shift due to my first fall on the ice. So that's a weekend off. This will be another weekend off, which is a no-no. I had the previous Thursday off, so that's blending lieu time with sick time as well, also a no no. I have one more month in the attendance management program with no more sick days allowed to get out. There is no way I can go to work this weekend, I am standing up typing this because if I sit down it is too painful to get back up, if that makes sense. I will at least have my Doctors notes. My Doctor said I prolly wasn't fully recovered from the last fall and shouldn't have run in PA. DOH.
After what, 10 years of trails and never hurting myself badly by falling, 2X in one month?WTF? Portage calls it "Gettingolditis".
I did get some cool shots before I crashed. Sunday was one of those days where we had rain, snow, sun, rain, and a blizzard, then more sun.
A Blizzard moves across the Don Valley
A nice section
These Bluebells up near Bayview Ave. only bloom for a few days.Portage loves them.
Starting to snow!
Nice. Mudfest. Don't slip now. This mud is clay, and pretty soon it looks like you're snowshoeing.
Looking up to where I took the blizzard shot 20 minutes earlier. Blue sky.
My tracks from my previous one hour loop.
Nice tree to hide behind if nature calls.
In less than 2 hours, this bozo will be crawling towards a tree to pull himself back to his feet.
And finally, Tuesday night is wing night. We decided to leave it to the professionals tonight. No fries for Paleoman."The Boy" ordered the Armageddon Wings. Good luck with that,Ben.Duffs is world famous, we are fortunate to have them in our neighbourhood.
