The Food! The best part? Burgers and fries (and one meatloaf) every day until the date with destiny. KFC had this wonderful idea of creating a burger with no bun. The "Double Down". A beautiful concept and they screwed it up.
The meatloaf at the Burr Oak Inn in Ohio. I hadn't had meatloaf since I was 6 years old, but it was good. The broccoli was the first green vegetable I had eaten in a week.
He we go. The Holy Grail of low carb eating, the "Double Down".This is me standing in line at what must be the nastiest KFC in America. The girl behind the counter had a great sense of humour, loved Canadians, and probably thought I was retarded for ordering a "Double Down".
So here's where the Colonel screws up. This disgusting mess looks even less like the "Double Down" in the commercials than a real Big Mac looks like an advertised Big Mac.WTF? Disappointing after the long wait. You can read the BBQ Addicts review of the Double Down here. He came to the same conclusion as me, but his solution was to add a slice of "Bacon Explosion". Brilliant. Ignorant comment by Bill just before mine, he has no clue what causes obesity and diabetes.
Here's another shot, doesn't make it look any better. The boy and I are going to make our own, and they will be worthy of the title "Double Down"! Low Carbers will come from miles around.......
Let's eat here, what could go wrong ? Who considers jello a good selection in a salad bar? I think I just saw a size 20 ass in a size 10 pair of Lulu Lemons.
Anywho, back to the Caveman Diet, but damn that was fun.

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

I've gotten interested in the whole paleo diet, but I can't imagine anything from KFC is good for you. So I'll probably limit myself to just three or four of the double downs!
ReplyDeleteI won't be getting my Double Downs at KFC anymore, standby for a home-made "Paleo Double Down" featuring chef Digger Jr., aka "The Boy".
ReplyDeleteAnd the KFC ones are so small, you probably could eat three or four at a time,if they didn't look so gross.
Some days I can talk my girlfriend into making bacon wrapped chicken, which rocks!
