How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

Las Vegas

Portage and I spent the last two days of our trip in "Lost Wages". We stayed right on the strip in a hotel called "New York, New York. It's across the road from the MGM Grand, where we stayed last time we were here.
We had a connector in Cleveland, they had these cool mobiles hanging from the ceiling.

They looked like giant paper airplanes.

Colorado. Lots of snow already.

Flying over Lake Mead

First view of Vegas from the tarmac. Can't miss the MGM Grand.

Artsy shot.

The scene of my "Best Burger Ever".

Captain,Beaver,Meanie and moi.

"The Burger". Until the "Flying Monkey" it was tied for best burger ever.

New York, New York, Las Vegas.

Traffic Jam leaving Las Vegas.

Headed for Utah. Looks like someone building their dream home ran out of money.

The highway gets pretty interesting heading to St. George

Ooooohhhhhhh

Home of "Sister Wives!"

Stunning scenery.
 OK, I forgot all these photos before. This is actually when we arrived in Vegas at the start of the holiday and left for Utah. Now here are the photos from when we headed back to Vegas the week after the marathon;
Men's Room at the rental car drop off

Ladies room

Chili's Jalapeno Burger is quite good!

Hotel beer

Our view from the 32nd floor

MGM Grand, where we stayed 15 years ago. New York, New York was being built, but wasn't open yet.

Cheap Eats and cheap beer, right down there.

This is the taxi stand where,2 years earlier,  the Pylons waited in vain for a shuttle back to our hotel. We wound up walking 2 miles at 1:00a.m.

It was Thanksgiving Weekend in The States, and the Hotels all went over the top with their displays.

Water show at the Ballagio should not be missed. They synchronize the fountains with old Rat Pack tunes.

I Took The Blows, And Did It.....................MYYYYYYYYYY         WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY !

Paris,Vegas with full moon

Hotel Cooler. Classy.

Italian food!

I am jealous, Beaver got to see the Heart Attack Grill. We were too far away to make it. Next time for sure.

This is actually a hotel burger. Man, it looks good.
 Well no doubt Beaver couldn't finish that burger, I guess that's how he keeps that carved cheetah build of his. So that's it for 2011, up next,..........2012! One last thing;
Way to go Phantom!

Congratulations to Phantom, who paced 10th in his age group at the World Trail Running Championships in Hawaii on December 4th! Are you kidding me? Looks like a future Pylon Road Trip for sure.
