How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

From June's "TrailRunner" Magazine

"While many trail runners ascribe to a traditional high-carbohydrate diet, a growing segment of our ranks is eating like our caveman—or Paleolithic-Era—ancestors did, taking in more lean meat, fresh fruits and veggies, and less processed foods and carbohydrates. How does that translate to running performance? Find out in Nutrition."

I haven't seen it yet, but it may have the online interview they did with me in it.
It's unfortunate that they say "taking in more lean meat, fresh fruits", as lean meat is OK, but fatty meat is best. It's no coincidence that marbling makes steak and roast beef taste better.
The idea that saturated fat is not bad for you is really tough for some people to get their heads around.
I also believe most Paleo dieters try to take in a minimum of fruit, unless it's berries. Fruit back in the Paleolithic-Era bore no resemblance to fruit we have today, which has been hybredized for maximum sweetness.
