How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

Spring Finally Sprang and Training Log Update

Portage's Daffodils Fight For Their Lives
Training Log
January 2010- Ran 70 miles         January 2011-Ran 120 miles
February 2010-Ran 120 miles      February 2011-Ran 129 miles
March 2010- Ran168 miles          March 2011-Ran 204 miles
2010 Total- 358 miles                  2011 Total- 453 miles
So I'm up 100 miles  so far this year, despite the "Charlie Brown" wipe out and missing a week. Hopefully that translates into a good run on Saturday. I was 'sposed to run today, but woke up with a sore achillies this morning. Nothing major but probably a result of my 3 hour run on Friday with my new New Balance Minimuses. I'm going to take the day off running and instead work on cleaning up around the pool. We've just had two days of 11˚C+.
Sweet. We may get the pool open in April after all.

  1. I think the plural is Minimi.

Good luck with the race. I'm pretty jealous over the yummy western Pennsylvania beer you'll be drinking post-race.

  2. I predict a podium finish with a bottle of Yuengling in one hand , and an IC in the other.
    Or not.
