How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

Bonspiels,Beavers and Beer

January is my "Base Building" phase, and right in the middle of it comes the Beer N' Beef Curling Bonspiel. What do we eat all weekend? Beef. What do we drink all weekend? Beer. Not Good. Miles run this weekend? Zero. Curling at a venue like this, it's hard to believe that When I Was a Lad.....
It all takes place at the beautiful Scarboro Golf & Country Club. These people are mostly "Old Money".The photo looks funny because it's facing east and the sun's not up yet.
The ice is always good, with lots of curl. I took some action shots, but the guys didn't like the flash going off in their faces as they were throwing. DOH.
Friday night is "all you can drink" for free. Then you bid for teams you think will win. It's called a "Calcutta" draw.Things get pretty crazy.
Command Central. This is where we came up with the strategy of how much of the kids university money we should spend on curling teams I've never heard of. Sorry kids!
Stop the Insanity! Our team (#3) goes for the 3rd highest price overall, $1100.This is based on our success in previous years. Not good.
A waiter picking up empties at 10:00a.m.
I guess 10 pitchers of beer weren't enough for our Finnish 2nd.  At midnight, he goes  home for some quality Scotch. Not Good. We have 2 games the next day.
Anyhow, to make a long story short, we made it to the semi-finals, where the Curling Gods felt we should be absolutely humbled, and the team we played missed their shots by 10 feet and still wound up with favorable results. Those that curl will sympathize. We were trounced by a lesser team.
I spent a lot of time here.

Here's the beef. That's a cow leg on Friday night.

The salads tasted incredibly salad-y.

Does this dessert make my Skip look fat? He's going primal, as soon as he finishes eating this poison,

We would kick their asses! Olympic medals? Big deal. Can they drink beer for 72 hours?

But on to Beavers! Portage was in the ravine and caught the smelly buggers in the act. She had her camera , and took many photos of a Buck and a Doe wreaking havoc!. Just kidding, there's no special name for a male and female Beaver, although the babies are called "kits".Unless that's seals.Or foxes.Or otters

Oh, the humanity. Cut down in their prime.

But a male beaver? Seriously? What up with that?

Male Beaver. Military intelligence. Jumbo Shrimp.
That's the female/doe/cow/vixen/bitch beaver. They really should think of a name.
And finally................... This primal @#&% works.

Apologies for the Hobbit feet
I have lost 10lbs+ since January 3rd. I have been adding muscle to the quads, but I still have lots of jiggle I can lose. End of February should see me down to 155lbs, and at the end of March I hope to be 150lbs. for my best season ever! And of course, I got my 165lb.case of beer, and am working on that now.
January Training- 2010- Ran 70 miles
