How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

Breaking Your Sugar Addiction

Here's a good article on breaking your sugar addiction.

I stole it from Ultrarob's blog. I disagree with a few points, namely that you should eat whole grains, or even brown rice. Humans haven't evolved to eat grains. Cows, other animals and birds have. Humans evolved to eat the animals that eat the grain. I also don't think anyone needs to drink fruit juice, watered down or not. As far as eating fruit, we "Paleo" types prefer berries to apples, oranges etc.
The main thrust of the argument is good, however. It's not consuming fat that's causing obesity and other heath issues, it's sugar.Eating fat and protein fills you up, while eating sugar and carbs makes you crave more sugar and carbs. For more on my Paleo diet , you can go here.

Back in late 2008, when I started eating primal foods, I lost 20lbs. in the first 2 months. I lost weight so fast many people thought I was sick. I have stabilized at around 160 lbs now, but I'm still slowly losing fat and gaining some muscle. I only do 80% Paleo, I still have beer on special occasions (Happy Tuesday!)  and give in to my french fry craving at least once a month. If I cut out the beer and fries, I'm sure I could get down to 150lbs., but that's a sacrifice I'm NOT willing to make!
