How To Approach an Ultra or Ironman

Jordan Rapp quote sums it up!

This Jordan Rapp quote sums it up.
"It's about the process. It doesn't matter what you do tomorrow and it doesn't matter what you did yesterday. It's about today, and making today count. That's especially true in training, but it's the same mentality that I carry into racing. Focus on the task at hand, not on the finish line, or the next part of the race, but what it is that is right there in front of you in the moment."

It's That Time Of Year

When there is absolutely nothing going on. I'm building up the mileage, but every fricken' day it's cold and snowing, and I'm more of a fair weather runner. The treadmill is OK, but I get outside if I can. A whiff of spring in the air today, so I ran a 1:30 loop in the ravine, but no new pitchers.
  As far as the Glacier Ridge 50k goes, Cyrus is in mid-season form, Beaver is sandbagging it but in, Captain is hurt,75% out, Dora is rarin' to go, Phantom is totally healed from his "cankle" last fall, Onions and Swiss are good to go, so it looks like 7 Pylons are headed to Grove City PA for some running and some power shopping with the wives.
My weight loss is currently stalled, I may have to do an IF to get it kick-started, but I really think when I increase my mileage, I'll be OK. I could cut out the dairy if I get desperate, I WILL start the season below 160lbs.

  I do have a physical tomorrow, and we will see how this Primal Diet is affecting my lipids etc.Those that don't believe in the high fat diet (almost everyone I know) are anxious to see the results. My mom is a retired dietitian, my big sister* is also in the medical field and knows her stuff.
  So we shall see.
* Fun fact about my big sister. Her first road running race was the Ottawa marathon. She finished in a bit more than 6 hours.No whimpy 5k's or 10k's for this girl.
OK.
Some Fun Photos From The Past.
First;
  Back when I was Fat...............
(Left to right)Ladies Man, Sub (Eddie) and me (at 180+lbs) at Dances With Dirt, Hell, Michigan, 2003.

The latest snowstorm on our street. Totally unrelated to the shot above.

February 12th, 2011. Hard to Believe, but in a month and a half, I'll be in that swimming pool/hot tub.
OK, one more Beaver shot. Portage said the whole school was down at the river looking at the Beavers today.A bit of a sensation in downtown Toronto.

That Beaver looks cold!

The Don River has made an amazing comeback since we moved here 30 years ago. You wouldn't let your dog swim in it back then.Now, I'm amazed at the variety of wildlife I see down there.White tailed deer, herons, ducks, beavers,hawks,groundhogs,bunnies and lots more.
 Well, I just wanted everyone to know I'm still alive, still running and eating primal food, and looking forward to Pennsylvania.
  And a HUGE shout out to This Guy, a beer loving trail runner from Colorado, who just did a marathon PB of 2:53, fueled by Pabst Blue Ribbon! I can only dream of times like that. Atta Boy, Brownie!

  2. Hi Brownie;
    Well deserved, that was a great run you had.
    I have to book a follow up appointment to get the results,I was amazed the doctor was fairly open to my diet, he said a high fat diet can be good. He had been reading about the Mediterranean diet. When he asked me how much I drank, he asked "per month"?
    "Um, yeah, per month".
